Concerning Al Qadir University, its current headlines have been from the case of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. The government calls it the “190 Million Pound Case,” while PTI calls it the “Al-Qadir trust case.”
Case Background
The case goes back to the point when the National Crime Agency of the UK had seized £190 million, allegedly for an illegal acquisition. As said by the agency, this amount could be sent to Pakistan, and the then-Prime Minister Imran Khan was said to approve such a transaction in a closed cabinet meeting. As per the laws, instead of depositing this amount with the national treasury, it would go to the Supreme Court’s account, and this amount was said to have been adjusted against the fine of Bahria Town Karachi for which, historically speaking, land was purchased to create Al-Qadir trust.
PTI stressed that the land proved to be purchased before the transfer of £190 million to Pakistan, thus rendering the accusation baseless. The university-cum-Al Qadir Trust is in Suhawa, District Jhelum, with its chairperson being Imran Khan. The institution was instituted in 2019, while the academic activities officially started in 2021.
Students’ Opinion on Al-Qadir Trust Case

According to reports, Imran Khan was smiling when the judge announced the verdict and asked sarcastic, “Is there any punishment greater than this?”
